The events leading to the arrest began in Northern Westchester at around 5:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, when a suspicious incident at the Shrub Oak International School at 3151 Stony St. prompted a police response, Yorktown Police announced on Friday, Nov. 15.
An investigation determined that a school employee, identified as Dutchess County resident Sebastian Borba-Ferreira of East Fishkill, allegedly shoved and "committed other endangering actions" on a disabled student, police said.
The alleged behavior was found to be "likely injurious" to the student's physical, mental, and moral welfare, the department added.
Nearly two weeks later, on Thursday, Nov. 14, Borba-Ferreira surrendered himself to Yorktown Police, was arrested, and was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, a felony.
After arrest processing, Borba-Ferreira was released on his own recognizance. He will appear in the Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Jan. 16.
